I had already spent years working across healthcare, clinical research, technology, patient recruitment, and digital strategy when my own health deteriorated. I became the person trying to make sense of symptoms, tests, treatments, specialist opinions, and research that each explained a piece without explaining the whole.
Many of the answers were not necessarily wrong. They were incomplete. The missing information was often sitting outside the specialty, outside the endpoint, outside the abstract, or several references deeper than the conclusion people were repeating.
Over the last five years, that experience changed the direction of my work. I began tracing questions farther into the primary literature, the cited research behind it, older studies, contradictory findings, adjacent fields, participant biology, environmental context, and the real-world conditions that laboratory reduction deliberately removes.
BestIsMe.Org grew from that process: find what is missing, translate what the research actually establishes, apply the insight carefully, and validate whether it changes something meaningful.
Go past the excerpt. Follow the question until the context returns.
Important gaps often appear only when the paper is read as part of a larger evidence chain rather than as a standalone conclusion.
Read what was actually studied.
Go beyond the abstract and summary into methods, population, timing, dose, endpoints, exclusions, limitations, and what the experiment can legitimately establish.
Follow the evidence backward.
Read the papers the paper depends on. Important assumptions, older findings, measurement limits, and contradictions frequently disappear as research is repeatedly summarized.
Look outside the field that named the problem.
Biology does not organize itself by specialty. Relevant evidence may sit across biophysics, metabolism, photobiology, endocrinology, neuroscience, environmental science, pharmacology, engineering, or another field entirely.

A larger map of what may matter.
Once the research is followed across fields, seemingly separate variables begin to connect. Timing, environment, sleep, medications, supplements, prior interventions, metabolic state, recovery, exposures, and chronology can become relevant to the same question.

- Chronology What changed first, what followed, and what was added next?
A real history to test the research against.
Root Cause Investigation applies that research framework to one person's chronology. It organizes the fragments, identifies where context may be missing, and develops better questions for the individual and the licensed clinicians involved in their care.

A response is evidence. It is not yet an explanation.
Showing that something works is the beginning of the investigation, not the end.
A supplement can help. A drug can move a marker. A device can produce a measurable signal. A behavior can improve a symptom. None of those observations, by themselves, tell us why the response occurred, what else changed, what was traded, or whether repeating the intervention indefinitely is the right conclusion.
